St Andrews (Scottish Gaelic: Cill Rìmhinn) is a university town and former royal burgh on the east coast of the council area of Fife, in Scotland. (Scotland has 32 council areas rather than counties) The town is home to the University of St. Andrews, the third oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of the UK’s most prestigious. (Prince William is one of their many famous graduates)
The University is such an integral part of the burgh that during term students make up approximately one third of the population. (Nahikari & Sergio on flickr)
